Performance indicators of ATF 9 Gearbox Fluid

Performance indicators

The performance indicators of ATF 9 Gearbox Fluid are key factors in measuring its quality and applicability. The following is a detailed introduction to its main performance indicators:

1. Viscosity and viscosity index

Viscosity: Viscosity is an important indicator of ATF 9 Gearbox Fluid, which directly affects the power transmission efficiency and lubrication effect of the gearbox. Generally speaking, the kinematic viscosity of ATF 9 at 100°C is usually between -5 and 6mm²/s. Such viscosity can maintain good oil film strength at high temperatures, ensure effective lubrication between components, and reduce wear.
Viscosity index: The viscosity index of ATF 9 is usually between 150 and 180. A higher viscosity index means that the viscosity of the oil changes less at different temperatures, and it can maintain good fluidity at low temperatures, making the gearbox cold start smooth, and maintain sufficient viscosity at high temperatures to ensure lubrication performance.

2. Flash point and pour point

Flash point: Flash point refers to the lowest temperature at which the oil can flash when its vapor mixes with air and contacts flames under specified conditions. The flash point of ATF 9 is generally not less than 170℃. A higher flash point can ensure the safety of the oil in a high temperature environment and reduce the risk of fire.
Pour point: Pour point refers to the highest temperature at which the oil stops flowing under specified conditions. The pour point of ATF 9 is usually not higher than -40℃. A low pour point can ensure that the oil still has good fluidity in a cold environment, so that the gearbox can work normally at low temperatures.

3. Antioxidation and anti-wear properties

Antioxidation: ATF 9 Gearbox Fluid has excellent antioxidant properties. Through special formulas and additives, it can resist oxidation reactions under harsh conditions such as high temperature and high pressure. It is generally required that in the test of simulating the use environment, after a certain period of aging, the performance index of the oil does not change within the specified range to ensure long-term stability.
Anti-wear property: Anti-wear property is an important indicator to measure the ability of ATF 9 to protect the gearbox components. It forms a tough protective film on the metal surface by adding a variety of anti-wear additives. In the standard anti-wear test, it can control the wear marks within a very small range, effectively reduce the wear of gears, bearings and other components, and extend the service life of the gearbox.

4. Anti-foaming and anti-emulsification property

Anti-foaming property: Good anti-foaming property is an important characteristic of ATF 9. Under working conditions such as high-speed stirring, it can quickly eliminate the bubbles generated. Generally, it is required that under the specified test conditions, the foam volume and defoaming time are within the strict standard range to avoid the foam affecting the normal operation and power transmission efficiency of the hydraulic system.
Anti-emulsification property: ATF 9 has excellent anti-emulsification property. It can separate quickly when in contact with water to prevent the formation of emulsions and ensure that the performance of the oil is not affected. In the anti-emulsification test, oil-water stratification can be achieved in a relatively short time to ensure that the gearbox can still work normally in a humid environment or when water enters.
